Signs Of Progress

Who needs road bumps to slow down traffic when you have cars and work trucks parked along one side of the street? Sometimes they are parked on both sides of the street, so I have to manoeuvre my way down the street by driving in a zigzag manner. Since moving to this street three years ago, I have seen four old houses torn down and one commercial site levelled and new houses, units and a fast-food restaurant built in their place. The sounds of birds during the day have been replaced by the sounds of drills and hammering. It is not the end yet because two of the five sites are still under construction and I hear that the commercial site across the road has just been sold and will be replaced by residential units. That means more sounds of drills and hammers and zigzag driving to contend with. I don’t mind these new look residences that beautify and add value to our street; I just don’t care too much for the increased traffic congestion and debris that aren’t contained too well by some of the sites because they have simply dumped their construction waste on the ground in one corner of the site near the street instead of hiring a skip bin for this purpose.

Cheap skip bins in Brisbane are the large waste containers that open on the top that we often see at places that have a lot of waste material to be removed such as construction sites, major clean up jobs or at factories. Unlike a wheelie bin where waste is emptied into a garbage truck, a full skip bin is removed by a special truck which takes it to a landfill, recycling station or some other transfer station to dump the contents. There is no excuse for some of these construction sites to dump their waste on the ground when there are various cheap skip bins hire places around town. Depending on the job and space available, there are different types of skip bins that come in different shapes and sizes such as the Marrel skip bin which comes in sizes of 2-17 cubic metres; the hook lift skip bin which are rectangular in shape and comes in sizes of 4-30 cubic metres; the mobile skip bin which comes on a road registered trailer and is ideal for tight spots or places that need a permit, and comes in sizes of 3-4 cubic metres with a weight limit; and the economical skip bags which can be used in small spaces, are not time restrained and come in sizes of 1-3 cubic metres.

Though construction sites can look unsightly, these can be easily fixed by using skip bins to contain their waste. I do like the signs of progress in the area. Building more residential and commercial properties means we can bring more people into the area and more people means more customers for our local businesses.
